Horde Night and Siege Weapons
The Horde Night is an event that appears at Midnight after the Day Cycle duration has ended. The Day duration can be set in the Save/Server options (1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 24 IRL hours (Default is 4hrs)) and Horde Night lasts for 5 mins.
Update v0.5.2.1 saw the first night horde wave reduced by 25% with creatures now continue spawning throughout the night at a lower rate.

overview
There is an internal Horde Stage Level that defines the creature types, their numbers per player and is scaled by the Server settings with the Horde Stage being determined by the player’s level.
Sacrificing a Savage Skull in a Prophecy Altar will give the exact time to the next Horde in the top right of the screen to that person only.
What to do about Horde Night?
- Simply log out and wait for it to pass.
- Hide in an inaccessible place such as at the top of the Trader’s tower for the duration.
- Create a base to withstand the current level of Horde and fight them to get their loot drops (See here for Tips and Base designs). Horde Night loot drops are the best places to find Schematics and Gold Fragments with Golden Loot Bags giving the very best loot!

horde NIGHT Tips
The first thing to say about Horde Night is that it is not that bad, the worst thing that can happen is you die, which is just dropping your Inventory, gear being damaged and getting “Sickness“. That being said, Do not RESPAWN back at your main base as the Horde will attack it to get to you!
Sickness is an effect that Ghouls can give you or when you die and respawn. It penalises your maximum Health and Stamina by roughly 25% which can be cured by consuming a Mushroom Stew. The effects of respawning can be reduced by using an Advanced Bed.
- The first tip (Probably the most important) is to make a separate Horde Base set away from your main base that is upgraded structurally as much as you can with a Bed kept safe in the middle, surround it with Palisade Walls and Spikes. This way the Horde will target you and not your Main Base where all your loot is kept.
- There are various styles for Horde bases but making a tunnel leading into your base littered with Spikes gives you plenty of time to eliminate the enemy as they come in through the Killzone!
- Make lots and lots of Spikes, put them everywhere, you can’t have too many as they slow and damage the enemy as they come at you.
- Make an elevated base with a roof to fire arrows down on the enemy and to see what is coming and from which direction. when Ballista unlocks, make it and put as many as you can on the roof facing in all directions.
- Late game brings Castle Walls and Towers which have huge structural points but can be quickly damaged by large groups or Giant Trolls/Fire Demons and make sure all unused doorways are blocked off.
- Keep a Chest inside the Horde Base to keep all the gear used for Horde night and a set of Blacksmith Armour for repairing, upgrading and demolishing structures.
- Keep everything you need for fighting and healing in your Hotbar that way it you don’t have anything to drop if you die!
- When looting, keep the best arrows you find for Horde Night to take out the enemy as quickly as possible.
- When Giant Trolls or Fire Demons appear these need to be made top priority to kill first. Use Ballista (move them if needed) as a couple of head shots takes them down. The Giant Trolls do huge structural damage and the Fire Demons fireball will one shot kill you if it hits you and does MASSIVE BUILDING DAMAGE!
- The Crawlers jump very high and can pack a wallop if not dealt with quickly, they will scream when leaping.
- The Shaman and Goblin Archers have ranged attacks and whilst not deadly, if ignored can whittle your Health down quickly.
- Use Explosive Barrels away from you as they still damage buildings but have a really good damaging AOE!
- Throwing Bombs can be good for taking down groups but they will do full damage to any structure.
- The new addition of Carnivorous Plants are very OP as they have no Health to lose and will attack all enemy on sight and seem to be currently not targeted by the enemy. When you have Farming level 6, Plant them in small groups in bottlenecks.
