The Awakening Shrine is the placeholder for the Essence of Earth, Essence of Water, Essence of Storm, and Essence of Fire Offerings. These essence offerings can be obtained by defeating Bosses in Cinderveil, Shardmere, Ashenreach, and on Storm Isle. More information on Bosses here.
The Shrine Keeper will give you quests to get you started and also explain the lore around the Awakening Shrine. There are 4 pedestals, each for a different offering.

Essence of Earth
The Essence of Earth offering can be obtained by defeating the Earth Titan in Titan’s Echo, the Raid of Cinderveil.
Essence of Water
The Essence of Water offering is obtained by defeating the Water Leviathan in Abyssal Tide, the Raid of Shardmere.
Essence of Storm
The Essence of Storm can be obtained by defeating the final boss on Storm Isle, the Storm Sovereign.
Essence of Fire
The Essence of Fire can be obtained by defeating the Fire Colossus in the Colosseum in Ashenreach.

Ascension Gate
Once all of the shrines have received their offers, a Broken Ascension Gate will appear.
As of right now, you can only “Try to Enter” the Broken Ascension Gate.
“The gate responds…but the path collapses. Its awakening is incomplete. Beyond this veil lies the final trial. The last confrontation awaits – but not yet. The spirits are silent. The path will open in time. “
