Tutorial System, Healing, Combat and Lockpicking

Divided Lands has an optional Tutorial system to guide the player into playing the game and to help with level advancement.
Once a stage is complete, pressing “X” will receive the reward and it will go onto the next stage. This is useful if playing in a group to keep everyone at the same pace. If an activity or process has already been completed previously (ahead of schedule) it will be marked as such with the line through the text and players can often will just press “X” and advance several times.
Any stage can be skipped completely (but receiving no reward) by pressing+holding “Tab“. The tutorial step window can be reduced down to an icon on the screen and expanded again by pressing “G“.
Some Stages might require the character to level up first before the conditions (item level unlocks) are met and some need certain Loot items (IE: Anvil Base and Horn) and Schematics to craft such as the Warriors Chestplate and Warrior Trousers.
Tips- When in a Tribe, items can be placed and picked up again and then passed to another member to do the same as it still counts as placing (pick it up in less than 60 secs or its permanently there). Similar with Crafting an item can be set to craft and then canceled and it still counts.

Tutorials
healing
Food is the main way to regain Health in Divided Land as Healing Kits unlock at Level 18 along with Padded Bandages (stops Bleeding) and Splint (removes Crippling effect).
Healing is not instant but after the slight initial heal boost the majority is done over time.

The skill “Passive Healing” (regain health slowly over time) is available in the Vitality section of the Skill Tree but now only applies when a player has no negative effects (IE: Poison, Hunger, Cold or Heat etc).
The Crippling effect prevents Sprinting but it will go away after some time on its own.
Armour helps to negate Combat, Cold, Heat and Poison damage. “Impact Absorption” Skill reduces Fall damage and the Crippling effect. Armour and Skills can reduce the damage caused but currently nothing cures Poison although it has a low duration.

Tip- Cooked Meat is your friend until you have an established garden and a Cooking Station to make Stews.
Cold and Heat
There is a Hot and Cold system in Divided Land and it involves keeping the Body Temperature (BT) (as shown by the Green Arrow >) between 34.9 °Celsius (94.8 °Fahrenheit) and 38.4 °Celsius (101.1 °Fahrenheit). It does take time for the temperature changes to be felt.
If the BT falls below 34.9 °C (94.8 °F) the effects of Cold will be felt which means losing Health and consuming more Food. Armour and Skills can give Cold Resistance and roughly 26 pts total is required to stay warm.
If the BT rises above 38.4 °C (101.1 °F) the effects of Heat will be felt which means losing Health and consuming more Water. Armour and Skills can give Heat Resistance and roughly 37 pts total is required to stay cool.
If too hot, increase Skills, wear suitable Amour and avoid Stamina use and also Fires!
If too cold, increase Skills, wear suitable Amour, run around to feel warm and stay close to fires!

Tip- Rogues Gear gives the best Heat Resist with the Footman’s Armour giving the best Cold Resist.
Tip- Holding a Torch in the Cold region should keep away the chill.
A Tent is available to craft at Level 10 on Person using Leather x10, Rope x12 and Logs x4.
When inside, it protects the player against Wind, Rain, Snow (Cold) and Sun (Heat).

combat
Left Mouse Button (LMB) to attack and Right Mouse Button (RMB) to Parry/Block, note it is not a press and hold as the RMB fires the Parry animation and returns the weapon back down to the ready position after, it does not continually hold the blade up. Headshots can do double damage to the target.
Ensure you have equipped your Arrows by Pressing “R” and selecting the type in the Radial Menu.
Wooden Bow does 100% damage (plus Arrow type damage), the Iron Bow does 140% damage with the Crossbow doing 150% damage.
Tip- When fighting low down animals (IE: Rats) move the Mouse down so the camera is overhead and swing down and when fighting flying creatures (IE:Wasp) move the Mouse up so looking up and swing.
Two Handed Hammer attacks cannot be parried and do extra damage to Shields!
Ranged Combat – Bow (Iron)
The bow has an aim wobble when drawn back and some skills (Skill Tree) can help with it.
Shown here is a Level 50 character with good Armour, Max Skills and Iron Bow with Steel Arrows.
Tip- Aim, then draw and fire quickly so it’s just a question of aim higher or lower and not so much left/right.
Iron Bow does more Damage than a Wooden Bow and requires its Schematic and Level 30 to craft.
Ranged Combat – Crossbow
No aim wobble with this weapon, just point and shoot but requires finding its Schematic over a normal Wooden Bow.
Slower reload (Skills can reduce this) and uses Arrows the same as a Bow.
Shown here is a Level 50 character with good Armour, Max Skills and Crossbow with Steel Arrows.
Crossbow does the highest Damage and requires its Schematic and Level 31 to craft.
Melee – 1 Handed Parry
Stamina is key, conserve where possible and fight as few opponents at one time.
Shown here is a Level 50 character with good Armour, Max Skills and Iron Sword.
Melee – 2 Handed Parry
Stamina is even more important as 2 handed (especially Hammers) use more.
Shown here is a Level 50 character with good Armour, Max Skills and Steel Battle Axe.
Shield Block and Dodge
RMB to block, but it will only stay held up for 3 secs and drop again. The Shield is fairly quick to take damage and it can block arrows but not Head or Lower Leg shots.
Shields cannot Parry perfect.
Double Tap a movement key to Dash-Dodge in that direction.
Shown here is a Level 50 character with good Armour, Max Skills and Iron Sword and Iron Shield.
Iron Shield requires its Schematic and Level 30 to craft.
LOCK PICKING
The aim is to move the Tumbler completely horizontal to unlock it. Lockpicks can be found in loot or crafted at Level 30.
A higher skill gives more leeway when pressing LMB to avoid breaking Lockpicks.
Tip- Move the mouse THEN press LMB, don’t do both at the same time!
You will need to learn Lockpicking from scrolls and books found whilst looting or bought from Traders.
